About The Position

This individual is responsible for taking a leadership role in Histology planning, organizing and directing the daily activities of this section of the laboratory. He/she will participate in all job tasks necessary both to keep the department running smoothly and to upgrade the department. This individual will also be responsible for preparing gross specimens, embedding and processing tissue specimens, cutting sections and preparing microscope slides, performing all stains, including immunoperoxidase, assisting in developing new techniques, writing procedures and teaching students. This individual shall maintain a healing environment for employees and patients with a spirit of caring and concern as incorporated in the philosophy of our Catholic healthcare systems while performing all job functions.

Requirements

Associate or Bachelor degree in a lab science and graduate of an accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program required.
Meets the alternative education and experience set forth by the ASCP to become registry eligible for the HT or HTL category.
At least one year experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
