About The Position

The Diagnostics& Data Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of vehicle diagnostics by leading the development of diagnostic requirements, integration of foundational documents into GCP. This position focuses on leveraging advanced data engineering principles and emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance diagnostic capabilities, optimize data workflows, and support the development of AI assisted tools, ultimately ensuring vehicle quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive diagnostics, vehicle systems engineering, or data engineering roles.
  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis, data validation, and developing complex SQL queries.
  • 2+ years of experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, Scala, Java) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Proven experience in data integration and working with multiple data sources/repositories.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in relevant engineering or data science discipline.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Big Query, AWS, Azure) and building data lakes.
  • Familiarity with in-vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, OBD-II).
  • Experience with AI/Machine Learning concepts and model development, especially in a diagnostic context.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and acting as a Scrum Master.
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic requirements and troubleshooting guides.
  • Experience working with external vendors for data solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse engineering and IT teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define and establish Diagnostic Common data requirements based on analysis of field issues.
  • Conduct thorough Diagnostic Gap Analysis across vehicle features, Electronic Control Units (ECUs), and components.
  • Drive innovation by developing Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) for Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance process efficiency within the Diagnostics team.
  • Serve as an Agile Scrum Master for the team on a rotational or set cadence, fostering agile practices and continuous improvement.
  • Support cross-functional teams in developing utilities and applications on the department's AI tool.
  • Lead comprehensive investigations into vehicle data sources, collaborating with engineering teams to understand data storage and identifying high-value data points essential for various use cases.
  • Guide our working partners in standardizing and normalizing diverse datasets and leading all data validation efforts post-normalization to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Design and implement workflows that empower system engineering and AI teams to effectively utilize diagnostic data for building predictive models.
  • Develop precise SQL queries to extract and structure Big Query table views tailored for specific diagnostic use cases.
