About The Position

Under the direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor and/or Attending Physicians, perform a broad range of high quality obstetric and gynecologic imaging, both abdominally and transvaginally, throughout the lifespan of the woman and/or pregnancy. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Under the direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor and/or Attending Physicians, perform a variety of ultrasound evaluations on both pregnant and nonpregnant women for assessment of obstetric or gynecologic concerns. This position requires independent judgment and initiative in utilization of ultrasound equipment to create high quality images. Excellent communication and rapport with physicians and nursing staff is required. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the clinical situation and patient age/ability. The employee must be willing to fully participate in a constructive manner with resident education and should familiarize themselves with resident core competencies as it relates to Ultrasonography. Daily requirements will include the full scope of obstetric and gynecologic diagnostic imaging, both abdominally and transvaginally as indicated. This includes coordination of care with physician to perform procedures such as IUD removal and sonohysterography.

Requirements

  • ARDMS (compliant with all continuing education mandates) or a graduate of an approved JRCERT radiologic program (The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology) and an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program and considered registry eligible by ARDMS
  • OR Graduate of an accredited diagnostic ultrasound program and considered registry eligible by ARDMS
  • OR Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with on-the-job training in diagnostic ultrasound and considered registry eligible by ARDMS
  • Medical office and/or hospital experience
  • Basic computer experience
  • One of the following: ARRT and ARDMS registered, ARDMS registered, ARDMS registry eligible (certification within 2 years)
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

Nice To Haves

  • First Trimester Screening (Nuchal Translucency) Certified
  • 1 year minimum experience in Obstetric/Gynecologic ultrasound
