Description General Function Provides peer tutoring to sonography students practicing in the Diagnostic Imaging Lab and supervises the lab during open lab practice hours under the guidance of the program coordinator, instructors, and lab specialists. Characteristic Duties Provides help with scanning and operation of the ultrasound and other instructional equipment Provides informal evaluation of images Assists students with procedural and technology issues. Monitors schedule and guides student transition in and out of scan stations Monitors equipment and PACs system performance and reports concerns to program coordinator Stocks instructional supplies and takes inventory Cleans imaging areas, equipment, filters and deletes studies on system hard drives Circulates through scan stations and responds to student pages Maintains the security of the area and the safety of students and scan subjects Completes assignments given by program instructors and lab specialists Remains knowledgeable of and facilitates student adherence to sonography lab policy and procedure and informs program coordinator of student violations Remains knowledgeable of instructional lab content and instructor goals to best assist students Remains knowledgeable of safety protocols including the location of the defibrillator, fire extinguisher, tornado safety areas, and emergency evacuation routes. Performs additional related duties as assigned by the program coordinator, instructors, and lab specialists. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Work is primarily indoors. Work involves circulating throughout the shift, lifting, relocating, and storing instructional supplies, moving equipment, and rearranging furniture. Equipment/Tools Used Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers to perform the duties of the job. Operates ultrasound, instructional, and archiving equipment and systems found in the diagnostic sonography imaging lab. Supervision Under the general supervision of the Dean of the Health Careers, receives oral and written instructions from the program coordinator and faculty. Timecard approver: Program Coordinator. Schedule Variety of shifts are available Peer tutor can work 1-3 shifts per week. A shift is 6-7 hours long. Available shifts are M-Th afternoon to evening, Friday, or Saturday .
