About The Position

As a tutor, you will support your peers in achieving their learning goals while learning and growing as a professional. As a tutor you will: Enhance your communication skills Increase your understanding of and gain new perspectives on the subject you tutor Better understand the learning process through tutor training and your work with peers with other learning styles and educational experiences Gain mentorship skills Enjoy flexible hours (4-12 per week) in a convenient on-campus work location Earn a starting wage of $12.00 per hour

Requirements

• Completed at least one semester at UWSP with at least two semesters remaining
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of course material as evidenced by a 3.0 GPA or above and/or a faculty recommendation letter.
• Available to tutor for at least two semesters
• Willing to work with peers in a collaborative, inclusive learning environment
• Enjoy helping others learn
• Completed at least one semester at UWSP with at least two semesters remaining

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and support in one of our service areas
• Assist learners in the development of effective study skills and test-taking strategies
• Learn and continually apply TLC and tutoring program procedures
• Regularly check staff email and communicate with other staff members
• Attend required orientations, meetings, and training sessions
