The Diagnostic Imaging Engineer III is an advanced level position that performs operational and safety testing, maintenance and repairs on high level Radiology Systems such as MRI, CT scanners, Linear Accelerators, Nuclear Medicine, Digital Mammography, Cath Labs, Interventional Radiology or multiple medium or lower level Radiology systems within MLH System. Serves as a subject matter expert related to the repairs and maintenance of Diagnostic Imaging Equipment. Assists other Clinical Engineering Associates by providing training and in-services on topics related to Diagnostic Imaging Equipment. Responsible for performing equipment maintenance within the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system on multiple Diagnostic Imaging equipment systems. May be required to give Clinical Application advice, in services, and provide support services for Clinical Associates in their related specialty. Diagnostic Imaging Engineer III can be obtained by proven performance in multiple high and medium level radiology system competencies. Requirements

  • Associates Degree Biomedical Engineering
  • Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Service 5-7 years
  • Class D Driver License -Tennessee - Tennessee Motor Vehicle
  • Work requires extensive knowledge of clinical equipment, an extremely high degree of analytical skill, effective written and oral communications, knowledge of and ability to apply highly technical principles, concepts and techniques in solving complex technical problems.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as equipment manuals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of Associates, physicians and equipment manufacturers and vendors.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Normal eye-motor coordination, manual dexterity, visual perception (including color vision) and hearing. Vision and hearing may be corrected to normal range by corrective lenses or hearing aids.
  • Demonstrates effective and correct use of hand tools.
  • Demonstrates a logical and methodical approach in analyzing problems and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and extreme time constraints.
  • Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, manage tasks and projects, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high level periodic maintenance, performance assurance, electrical safety inspections and other safety tests to equipment including Diagnostic Ultrasound, Portable X-Ray, Analog X-Ray, R&F Systems, C-Arms, Cath Labs, Interventional Radiology, CT Scanners, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Digital Mammography, Digital X-Ray, & Linear Accelerators.
  • Maintains documentation and inspects/tests all newly purchased, evaluation, demo, leased or rented Diagnostic Imaging Equipment.
  • Determines cause of problems or malfunctions on all high level and complex medical equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and the deactivation of clinical equipment of Diagnostic Imaging Equipment.
  • Manages the supply stock of parts and materials needed to efficiently function.
  • Ensures that department related communications are coordinated among all team members.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self- development and enhancement of professional competency
