About The Position

A registered professional nurse under the supervision of the Imaging Center RN Coordinator and in compliance with hospital-wide standards of nursing practice, is responsible for providing quality nursing care for patients from neonate to geriatric ages in Diagnostic Imaging. He/she functions as an effective public relations representative for the hospital, supporting the philosophy of the nursing service department and the mission and goals of the hospital.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing.
  • At least one year ICU/ER experience is required.
  • Must be currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Appropriate CPR Certification.
  • Must have knowledge of varied Imaging procedures.
  • Must be proficient in the care of varied patients with awareness of untoward reactions and be able to initiate appropriate actions for life threatening situations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with physicians, patients, visitors and other hospital departments.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work, use good judgement, take initiative and be a resource person for all employees, patients, and departments with whom he/she maintains contact.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

  • Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
  • Complies with all HIPAA standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates clinical proficiency and expertise in utilizing the nursing process to assess patients.
  • Accurately communicates and documents assessments, treatments, nursing intervention and patient response.
  • Conscientiously documents the plan of care.
  • Expertly manages patients requiring nursing care in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Professionally acts as liaison between all hospital departments.
  • Consistently provides patient and family education regarding radiological nursing care.
  • Routinely demonstrates skill in using special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, pacemakers, oxygen equipment and ventilators.
  • Always maintains high safety standards for patients and other employees in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Demonstrates professional accountability and responsibility.
  • 10. Continually demonstrates self-directed learning and participates in continuing education to maintain and update requisite knowledge and skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock levels of crash cart supplies.
  • Effectively contributes to the budget process and utilizes supplies cost efficiently.
  • Consistently communicates effectively to maximize physician and customer satisfaction to promote services offered.
  • Participates in quality improvement process to improve the outcomes and efficiency of the organization in providing care.
  • Assists in PRN Diagnostic Imaging nurse orientation and training.
  • Performs any other tasks dictated by common sense and maturity to fill the needs of the hospital, the district and its patients. Performs other tasks as assigned by administration.
