Requirements

• Minimum Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics
• Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP);
• Registered Dietitian Certification OR Registered Nurse (RN);
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) (within 2 years of hire)

Responsibilities

• Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients, families, significant others.
• Delivers educational material using teaching principals and a variety of formats for new pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Delivers educational material appropriate for identified needs utilizing knowledge of growth and development for outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.
• Provides back up and assists other staff, as necessary.
