About The Position

3 � 7 hours per day (Monday - Friday) Summer positions only Effective Date of Employment: ESY: June 15- 26 - no school on June 19th Camp Propel: June 15-26 � no school on June 19th Application Deadlines: June 18, 2026 - 4:00 p.m. Ability to travel between schools sites as directed Application Procedures: Internal and External Candidates: Apply on-line at www.district196.org Primary Responsibilities: Facilitate communication between the learner and those the learner interacts with, be it teachers, peers, school staff or other community members encountered throughout the day using the appropriate form of sign language or cued speech. Essential Job Function and Definition : Provide essential communication link between the learner and all interpersonal communication the learner participates in daily.

Requirements

  • Providing access via Cued Speech
  • TSC� National certification through the TECUnit preferred
  • Acceptable rating on CAECS�E
  • 85% or higher score on CAECS�R
  • Providing access via Sign Language
  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Completed 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits from an accredited institution

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between the learner and those the learner interacts with, be it teachers, peers, school staff or other community members encountered throughout the day using the appropriate form of sign language or cued speech.
  • Provide essential communication link between the learner and all interpersonal communication the learner participates in daily.
  • Transliterate between D/HH learner(s) and hearing consumers
  • Transliterate movies, announcements, assemblies, etc.
  • Convey Auditory Environmental Stimuli such as bells, phone, coughing/sneezing, etc.
  • Transphonate foreign languages and music
  • Provide access to and maintain preservation of the mainstream environment as experienced by hearing consumers
  • Maintain confidentiality of all learners and consumers as stated in the Code of Conduct
  • Inservice D/HH learner(s) and hearing consumers about the role of the CLT
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Motivate and assist the learner in completing assigned tasks
  • In conjunction with the classroom teacher, modify work to suit the learner you are assisting
  • Help learner build upon their sign language skills
  • Adhere to the discipline protocol and crisis management plan set forth by the licensed classroom teacher/program and ensure all district guidelines are met
  • Ensure that the physical space the learner occupies is suited to the learner's optimal success, including sight lines, possible window glare, and lighting
  • Advocate for the learner to achieve success in the classroom
  • Follow lesson plans established by the teacher and track learner's progress
  • Ensure learner has the opportunity to participate in all facets of their education experience including concerts, field trips, and other school events
  • Oversee the learner's needs pertaining to their well being, such as providing meal assistance and breaks as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
