The Learning Commons at Regis University houses Tutoring, the Writing Center, and Academic Success Workshops. Our tutors provide support in a range of subjects through one-on-one and group sessions to promote student confidence and success. Our team of tutors includes undergraduates, graduates, and post-graduates from varied cultural and educational backgrounds. They undergo a formal hiring process and receive training on an ongoing basis to stay current with best pedagogical practices. Working as a tutor provides the opportunity to develop both interpersonal and oral communication expertise, and is excellent practice for any career path. Tutors can expect to › Engage in one-on-one tutorial sessions in-person and online with students. › Engage in synchronous and asynchronous online tutorial sessions. › Attend faculty/staff functions to discuss tutoring and develop tutoring skills and techniques. › Participate in professional development training, workshops, and meetings. › Adhere to policies and protocols set by The Learning Commons. › Visit classrooms to promote The Learning Commons and tutoring. › Assist in other department development activities, such as helping create a resource bank, and designing/displaying promotional materials.
