About The Position

RouteSmart Technologies , a leader in vehicle route optimization software technology, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Technology & Security Department. This role will report directly to the Director of Technology & Security and is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving our development and production operations infrastructure and product environments. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with Product Development, Infrastructure, and Security teams to support the software development lifecycle with a strong focus on automation and AWS cloud services. The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $120,000–$130,000 per year. RouteSmart Technologies, Inc. has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the U.S., and base pay will vary based on experience. This is a hybrid role ; candidates must be able to commute to the office in Melville, NY or Columbia, MD . Candidates must reside within 50 miles and be available to work onsite several days per week. However, we will consider the right candidate for remote work if domiciled in one of the following states: Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, DC, Virginia, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Washington.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with automated infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python).
  • Understanding of REST APIs and JSON.
  • Knowledge of AWS authentication and security best practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to visually present and communicate architecture and design.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to high-quality work and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern development and operations methodologies.
  • Knowledge of serverless and containerization technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype and develop cloud-native architecture solutions in AWS using services such as EC2, S3, DMS, IAM, Route53, RDS, VPC, Lambda, SQS, SNS, EKS, CloudWatch, API Gateway, Cognito, Kinesis, OpenSearch, and more.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools like CloudFormation and Terraform.
  • Design, manage, and maintain automation for operational tasks and processes.
  • Develop and maintain roadmaps for AWS infrastructure updates and patches.
  • Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems.
  • Support initiatives to improve system availability, scalability, and resilience (multi-AZ, multi-region, self-healing systems).
  • Stay current with AWS technologies and recommend tools and services for integration into RouteSmart environments.
  • Automate software builds and deployments (CI/CD).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
