About The Position

Reporting to the Clinical Manager and under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Program, the Clinical Device Specialist Registered Nurse possess a unique skillet that requires critical thinking, autonomy, and expert knowledge of multiple cardiac devices The RN in this role is able to complete tasks of a triage RN, such as phone triage, clinical assessment, appropriate documentation, EKG’s and prescription refills while expanding to perform cardiac device interrogations, interpret collected device information from both in-clinic check and remote transmission, make programming changes to optimize device function while keeping patient safety a priority and produce a concise report of the findings and interventions to the appropriate provider. The device RN acts as a resource for the triage RN’s, mid-level providers and MD’s in both collecting information and interpreting the gathered data to assist providers in caring for cardiac patients. The Device RN Specialist manages an extensive panel of patients in excess 500 patients each.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelors in Nursing
  • NH Registered Nurse License
  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing cardiac implantable device patients, telemetry patients or a strong knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors preferred
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certified Cardiac Device Specialist desirable

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate device management program efforts
  • Performs and reports device evaluations and analysis, with reprogramming as needed, to provide optimal treatment to patients.
  • Manages a caseload of patients, both independently and in collaboration with providers.
  • Assists with remote connectivity and missed remote transmissions
  • Acts as a resource to all staff regarding clinical questions and decisions.
  • Triages patient phone calls.
  • Documents into the patient electronic medical record.
  • Develops the educational program to be used for inpatients and outpatients.
