Your Role: We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our MilliporeSigma Process Solutions Virus Filtration R&D team located at our Bedford, MA campus. As part of our R&D organization, in this role you will be responsible for research and development projects directed to the development of novel filtration technologies suitable for the manufacture of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals. You will work cross-functionally with teams that include R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management, Sales, Quality and Procurement to drive product ideas through development and validation phases to achieve successful commercialization. This position may include domestic and international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 5+ years of experience in an engineering role OR Master’s Degree in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience in an engineering role OR PhD in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 1+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • 2+ years of experience working in 3D CAD software
  • 2+ years of experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis methods
  • 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment

  • Creativity, knowledge, and skills to successfully execute on challenging projects, including a demonstrated ability to apply proven scientific and engineering principles on projects with high complexity and difficulty
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and solved complicated technical problems
  • New product development experience
  • Fluent in Minitab or equivalent statistical software
  • R&D or manufacturing experience in filtration device making
  • Fluency in using CAD design software like SolidWorks and/or Creo
  • Basic understanding of intellectual property and patent filings
  • Ability to develop and maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories through literature, conferences, and workshops
  • Hands-on problem solver, skilled in modern laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Experience in conducting development and validation work
  • Project management experience
  • Good communication skills and a team player who works well with all levels throughout the organization
  • Fluent in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
