About The Position

This is a SkillBridge Military Fellowship program offered by Walmart Inc., an authorized Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge industry partner. The program supports transitioning Service members by providing a hands-on fellowship during their final 180 days of service, offering training, development, and real-world experience aligned to in-demand roles. The 12-week program for Developmental Technicians specializing in General Facilities Maintenance includes 5 weeks of structured, classroom-based training at UHP in Northwest Arkansas (with room and board covered), followed by 7 weeks of on-the-job training at a separate location, where candidates are paired with an experienced maintenance technician. The fellowship aims to help candidates translate military experience into civilian skills, build role-specific capabilities through mentorship and learning, and develop a network for post-separation employment. Participants continue to receive military pay and benefits and are not eligible for compensation from Walmart during the SkillBridge period. While job opportunities may be available after program completion, full-time employment is not guaranteed. The role involves maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart stores, equipment, and fixtures under the guidance of a local General Maintenance Manager.
