About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a high-caliber Developmental Engineer to join our elite engineering team. Based in Alexandria, VA, you will be in a developmental position for new business captures, transforming mission requirements into ruggedized, high-performance hardware solutions. This role is not just about CAD; it’s about defining the mechanical "win strategy." You will assist in the design of enclosures, cooling systems, and integrated platforms for C5ISR, unmanned systems, and electronic warfare applications. This position supports an on-going proposal. When the proposal is awarded, HII will seek to hire for this position immediately.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of two (2) years working as a Mechanical Engineer in a commercial environment (May be inclusive with experience working as an Electrical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer in their respective engineering field)
  • Experience working with other development contractors and trades to include non-traditional applications
  • Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Experience utilizing 3-dimensional drafting such tools such as CAD, Solidworks, and Revit
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance w/Poly

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on USG contracts
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience with electrical/mechanical industry best practices, regulations, and safety standards
  • Experience working on teams
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Building Automation and System Controls

Responsibilities

  • Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.
  • May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
