Job Summary: The Development (Senior) Technician (Product or Process) performs a wide variety of analytical and technical functions pertaining to product and/or process development in such a manner that complete and accurate analysis, records, and reports are delivered. This individual is involved in new product teams, communicates cross-functionally with other engineering groups, and contributes to writing of protocols and reports in areas of experience. This role with work with equipment frequently and be a hands-on assistant to engineer driven work and problem solving. This person has experience with specific product types and process/equipment to be considered a valuable source of information for Engineering, and can work fairly independently on larger scope of deliverables.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-year technical education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum four-years (4) technician experience
  • Two years PC experience; AS400, JD Edwards, and Windows knowledge a plus
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented. Demonstrated initiative toward self-development (extra curricular activities, classes, etc.)
  • Has working knowledge of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, data analysis
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Follows instructions and executes process and product development tasks, can operate independently once objectives are communicated until tasks are completed.
  • Thoroughly understands all operations in their area including immediate up and down-stream operations.
  • Performs basic data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Has some ability for basic data analysis.
  • Accesses the information network as needed.
  • Records data accurately in lab notebook.
  • Can train Operators.
  • Assists Engineers and other Technicians in equipment selection.
  • Assists Engineers in identifying the technical source of problems, can create solution recommendations.
  • Makes adjustments and recommendations to product specifications, process parameters, or equipment under Engineer’s direction.
  • Can conduct independent root cause analysis, prototype builds, and product testing.
  • Has a working knowledge of documentation control system.
  • Writes protocols and reports for Engineering approval as required.
  • Can develop tooling and fixture concepts, conducts simple CAD modeling.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
