You’ll: The Development Operations Specialist supports the strategic and operational effectiveness of the Development Department through high-level programmatic, and event-management responsibilities. This position exercises independent judgment in planning, coordinating, and executing development initiatives, including donor stewardship, corporate funding cultivation, special events, and fundraising programs. The DOS plays a critical role in designing and managing an organized stewardship program, the monthly giving program, explore corporate partnership opportunities, and ensuring the effective execution of donor and community engagement events. While this position provides oversight of essential CRM functions, the primary focus is on strategic coordination, donor experience, and event management to support the organization’s fundraising goals and long-term sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in development, event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit program coordination preferred.
  • Strong project management and event coordination skills with the ability to independently manage timelines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal—with the ability to represent the organization professionally to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment, particularly in donor interactions, problem-solving, and event planning decisions.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (preferably Blackbaud) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, stewardship practices, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute development events—including cultivation events, donor appreciation activities, fundraising events, and community engagement experiences—from concept to completion.
  • Manage event logistics, timelines, vendor relationships, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluation to ensure high-quality donor and guest experiences.
  • Make decisions on cost of events within the budgets provided
  • Develop event briefs, run-of-show documents, and post-event stewardship plans.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Relations Manager to create strategies for events, donor acquisition/retention, and donor cultivation.
  • Develop and maintain a structured donor stewardship program, including stewardship calendars, acknowledgement processes, recognition touchpoints, and engagement pathways.
  • Develop and help grow the monthly giving program through coordinated communications, retention activities, and data-informed insights.
  • Identify and cultivate corporate funding opportunities, including sponsorships, employee giving campaigns, volunteer engagement partnerships, and workplace fundraising initiatives.
  • Create and distribute donor-facing communications such as impact reports, newsletters, event invitations, and campaign messaging.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, and peer-to-peer initiatives.
  • Conduct prospect research to support the cultivation of new donors, ongoing stewardship of current donors, and advancement of corporate and foundation relationships.
  • Provide administrative and strategic support for donor meetings, briefings, and internal planning sessions.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Development team, including scheduling, meeting preparation, materials development, and departmental organization.
  • Maintain filing and documentation systems to ensure compliance and easy reference for development operations.
  • Oversee CRM data integrity and gift processing, coordinating with Finance to ensure accurate donor records, timely acknowledgements, reconciliation, and reliable reporting to support development planning and decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
