About The Position

We are looking for a motivated intern to support operations process improvement initiatives. This internship is hands‑on and execution‑focused, emphasizing identifying inefficiencies, improving workflows, and delivering measurable operational improvements. The role is intentionally flexible and may include a combination of a major improvement project and smaller, incremental enhancements across tools, processes, and reporting. This is a hybrid position. You will collaborate with stakeholders both remotely and on-site as needed, based on project requirements. Projects will be defined based on business priorities and operational needs but will consistently focus on making work easier, faster, more reliable, and more transparent. You will likely work on one primary process improvement project, while also contributing to a small set of shorter improvement efforts. Where appropriate, you will leverage Excel and other productivity tools to support ongoing operational performance and improvements. This role includes opportunities to leverage AI tools responsibly while following guidelines and maintaining human ownership. At the conclusion of the internship, you will present outcomes to stakeholders, including: The problem statement and current‑state assessment. Improvements implemented or recommended. Measurable results, insights, and next steps.

Requirements

  • Working towards a B.S., M.S., or PhD. degree in a relevant field such as Business, Operations, Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (or enrolled to continue education in an accredited graduate program).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Strong interest in operational improvement, efficiency, and problem‑solving in real business environments.
  • Ability to translate ambiguity into structured analysis, practical solutions, and clear communication.
  • Interest in operations/process improvement and learning how to apply AI tools to improve workflows (no prior AI experience required).
  • Self‑motivated and comfortable owning work from problem definition through outcome.
  • Must successfully complete all required screenings prior to hire.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Working knowledge of Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, basic data analysis).
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret operational data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with multiple stakeholders and incorporating feedback.
  • Ability to document and explain processes, assumptions, and results.
  • Ability to learn and apply AI tools responsibly, with attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and bias considerations.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., advanced formulas, data cleanup, dashboards, VBA or Power Query a plus).
  • Exposure to operational improvement or Lean concepts.
  • Experience improving or building trackers, reports, or operational metrics.
  • Familiarity with workflow, collaboration, or work‑management tools (e.g., Jira, SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Coursework or projects involving process improvement, operations, or analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Document and evaluate current‑state processes, tools, and data flows.
  • Design and recommend improved workflows with a focus on simplicity, standardization, and scalability.
  • Improve existing reports or metrics to enhance visibility into operational performance.
  • Perform Excel‑based analysis, including building or improving spreadsheets used for tracking, reporting, forecasting, or operational decision‑making.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through better structure, automation, or tooling.
  • Partner with stakeholders to validate findings and ensure proposed improvements are practical and adoptable.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate analysis and documentation while ensuring human review and accuracy.
  • Support implementation or pilot efforts, capturing feedback and refining solutions.
  • Prepare clear updates and final summaries highlighting impact and recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
