About The Position

The Development Officer is responsible for independently managing a portfolio of approximately 150 assigned prospects, building and strengthening relationships that inspire long-term, meaningful support. This role proactively identifies and engages prospective donors, implements strategic outreach and stewardship plans, and supports the growth of Feeding Tampa Bay’s donor base through targeted acquisition and retention efforts. The Development Officer uses moves management strategies and data-informed decision-making to cultivate increased giving, ensure accurate donor record management, and track progress toward revenue and pipeline growth goals. Working collaboratively across the development team, this position plays an integral role in advancing Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission to end hunger and create lasting community impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related role within a nonprofit environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills to guide decision-making and monitor portfolio growth.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Self-motivated, solution-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with discretion around confidential information.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to support donor engagement activities.
  • All internal candidates must be in good standing with no corrective actions within the last 90 days.

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 assigned prospects, fully owning cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to advance donors through the moves management process and strengthen long-term engagement.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with individuals to promote ongoing involvement and philanthropic investment.
  • Proactively identify new donor prospects through networking, outreach, referrals, and strategic research to expand the pipeline and ensure portfolio growth.
  • Implement tailored cultivation and stewardship strategies to support donor retention and inspire increased support over time.
  • Meet the engagement metrics set by development leadership, including required touchpoints, meetings, and asks per month.
  • Track and report progress on revenue, pipeline growth, and portfolio activity to ensure alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and secure donor records while adhering to data and operational best practices.
  • Support development campaigns, donor events, and engagement touchpoints to drive fundraising success.
  • Willing to actively participate in mission-driven programs, such as food distribution initiatives and disaster relief operations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance the department’s effectiveness.
