Requirements

  • 5+ years.
  • A minimum of five years of fundraising experience is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational, project, and time management skills; ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize effectively.
  • Flexible, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to easily learn other software and database systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; unquestionable personal integrity; and diplomatic and discreet. Exercises exceptional judgment.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. (A writing test is required.)
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment and cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A highly confident and dedicated individual, with the necessary drive and energy to respond to the demands of a high-performing fundraising office and world-renowned medical institution.
  • Flexibility to participate in evening/weekend events and to travel, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Executive Director of Development with the cultivation and stewardship of high-net-worth individuals by ensuring all information is captured in the departmental database and next steps are tracked as relationships are built and progress is made to securing a gift. This also includes drafting necessary correspondence (please see bullet point below).
  • Manage and build donor recognition society to thank and engage supporters of HSS in Florida.
  • Manage and build a portfolio of annual leadership and major gift level donors and prospects in addition to the donor recognition society donors. This includes planning, and executing strategies from donor discovery through cultivation, solicitation, and close of gifts in coordination with appropriate partners.
  • Foster critical relationships established by Executive Director, Development with HSS physicians by building strong working relationships with their staff, and the physicians where appropriate, to meet fundraising objectives and campaign priorities.
  • Provide oversight and management of donor recognition at HSS Florida locations, including the installation of recognition plaques and donor walls.
  • Partner with Executive Director, Development and events team to create, manage, and execute signature events. This includes scheduling, coordinating logistics with the special events team and preparing briefing materials and remarks for volunteer leadership, senior administrators, and physicians, etc.
  • Draft compelling correspondence to donors and prospects, including proposals, stewardship reports and personalized acknowledgement letters. Collaborate with the Executive Director, Development and Development Communications team as appropriate.
  • Assist with researching potential donors in collaboration with the Research Team.
  • Gain understanding of the department’s goals and vision, and how they relate to the overall organization and mission of HSS.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
