About The Position

The Development Manager is responsible for increasing contributed revenue using multiple tactics, coordinating various cross-departmental functions inside of the Development division and using sound decision-making to advance the mission of Conner Prairie.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in communication, philanthropy, arts administration, or other related field is required
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of current fundraising trends; including digital fundraising and direct mail
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage a variety of events
  • Computer software skills required include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Blackbaud Altru.
  • A working knowledge of fundraising techniques is required.
  • The ability to build relationships with donors and influence their decisions about giving is required.
  • The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.
  • The ability to speak, read and write in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and manages a portfolio of corporate donors and prospects capable of gifts of $1,000 - $5,000.
  • Leads donor acquisition, as well as the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of portfolio.
  • Plans event logistics, including registration, catering, mailings, silent auction, sponsorship, etc., for Conner Prairie Golf Classic and Corporate Day.
  • Ensures all sponsors and community relations partners receive promised deliverables outlined in agreements.
  • Leads special projects assigned and in collaboration with other development or Conner Prairie staff.
  • Maintains organized and current development and constituent records and portfolio plans using Altru database.
  • Assists with donor correspondence, including direct mail and other pieces, in partnership with Donor Relations and Business Intelligence office.
  • Manages projects using organizational tools and software provided by the museum.
