About The Position

The Development Manager (Fundraising) is responsible for leading fundraising efforts, developing strategic relationships with external partners, managing public relations, and overseeing volunteer and in-kind donation programs. This role supports the IRC's initiatives in Montana by implementing community engagement strategies and enhancing awareness of IRC's activities. The Development Manager collaborates closely with IRC teams and partner agencies to achieve fundraising goals and strengthen community ties.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional and/or lived experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in program management, fundraising, and resource development activities.
  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated success in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is preferred.
  • Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant is preferred.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for data entry and research.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed yearly fundraising goals with increasing expectations each year.
  • Oversee preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, and reports to local foundations and potential donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, and sustain individual donors through various engagement methods.
  • Ensure effective documentation for cash and in-kind donations and volunteer hours.
  • Organize annual fundraisers, donor appeals, and special events.
  • Raise awareness and represent the office at outreach and fundraising events.
  • Support media and communications strategies for community outreach.
  • Assist in planning and implementing community events, managing logistics and donations.
  • Create communications materials to engage donors and enhance giving.
  • Increase total grant funding annually and oversee proposal submissions.
  • Maintain a grants management tracking system with accurate data.
  • Develop and maintain contract and grant files with consistent documentation standards.
  • Prepare interim and final reports for grantors in collaboration with program staff.
  • Oversee volunteer coordination services and ensure proper recordkeeping.
  • Lead community and partner development plans, identifying key stakeholders.
  • Participate in IRC community practice forums for client and community engagement.
  • Provide training to IRC staff on community engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with office leaders to engage donors and decision-makers.
  • Relay community priorities to leadership and foster engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment of community engagement programming with IRC strategies.
  • Create tools and materials for community outreach and response.
  • Serve as a primary contact for local community leaders and groups.
  • Engage proactively with strategic relationships and networks.
  • Develop strategies to engage impacted community members in IRC efforts.
  • Serve as relationship manager for key external partnerships and activities.
  • Assist in raising awareness about IRC and related issues.
  • Coordinate state-level advocacy activities with office leadership.
  • Represent IRC with partner organizations and community stakeholders.
  • Act as a member of the IRC in Montana Leadership Team.
  • Maintain communication with the Deputy Director on grants and fundraising activities.
