About The Position

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, WI, is seeking a summer intern development Intern who is curious, organized, and ready to engage both behind the scenes and in the public eye. This position blends hands-on event support with practical experience in data management and nonprofit operations, offering a well-rounded view of how development work supports a mission-driven arts organization

Requirements

  • Interest in nonprofit work, the arts, fundraising, or data management
  • Pursuing a degree in one of the following areas: Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Data Analytics/Information Systems, Event Management/Hospitality, and Liberal Arts/Humanities
  • Comfort interacting with the public and representing the Arts Center in a welcoming, professional way
  • Strong attention to detail and a respect for accuracy and confidentiality
  • Willingness to jump in, problem-solve, and help where needed
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a positive, grounded presence

Responsibilities

  • Assist with donor and membership data maintenance, organization, and clean-up
  • Support accurate record-keeping within the Arts Center’s donor database
  • Help prepare materials for mailings, acknowledgements, and stewardship efforts
  • Gain exposure to nonprofit data practices and development workflows
  • Assist with Development’s presence at major public events, including the Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series and the Midsummer Festival of the Arts
  • Help staff and organize information booths alongside Development and Marketing teams
  • Welcome visitors, answer basic questions, and support membership and donor engagement efforts
  • Serve as a flexible extra set of hands, helping with setup, breakdown, organizing materials, carrying supplies, and acting as a runner as needed
  • Support behind-the-scenes event preparation, logistics, and follow-up
