About The Position

The Development Associate supports the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, grants, and advancement operations by helping implement strategies that strengthen philanthropic support and deepen community relationships. This role provides coordinated support across donor stewardship, grant and proposal development, corporate and community partnerships, and administrative functions. The position works closely with development leadership and cross-functional partners to help sustain and grow contributed revenue, strengthen donor experiences, and support the organization’s overall mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 year of experience in fundraising and development, including full time, part time, internship roles, or volunteer roles.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills to convey the mission of TCR to funders, board members, and other stakeholders who are important to the organization’s fundraising success.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to achieve results both individually and with others.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong time and project management skills., with ability to manage priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely and productive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively on an interpersonal or group level, including effective listening and relationship building skills.
  • High degree of confidentiality, diplomacy, discretion, and tact.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer, ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI), and other technical resources to effectively accomplish work.
  • Ability to effectively resolve a variety of problems and concerns within the scope of the organization’s policies, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use a PC/laptop, requiring repetitive motion of fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Required to occasionally move about in an office environment to access file cabinets, printers, etc., and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move about in the community.
  • Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 15 pounds).
  • Ability to be on video call for all meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience using CRM or fundraising databases such as Salesforce.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in working with organizations to support workforce development, especially with populations overcoming racial or other socio-economic hurdles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals, letters of intent, reports, and related materials.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and government grants[BM3.1], including tracking outreach, engagement plans, and next steps.
  • Track proposal, reporting, and renewal deadlines and help maintain grants calendars, funder portals, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new institutional funding opportunities and support pipeline development for foundations, corporations, and public funding sources.
  • Help prepare internal and external reports related to grant performance, donor activity, and fundraising outcomes.
  • Support annual fundraising efforts through donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and acknowledgement activities.
  • Assist with identifying, qualifying, and cultivating new donor and partner prospects.
  • Help steward long-standing and emerging donor, funder, sponsor, and community partner relationships through timely, professional, and mission-centered communication.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain relationships with employer partners, community organizations, retailers, cooperatives, and vendor partners engaged in philanthropic initiatives.
  • Administer workplace giving and partnership-based fundraising programs, including employer giving campaigns, matching gift opportunities, volunteer engagement, cause-marketing efforts, and related community fundraising activities.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain accurate records of employer and community partnership engagement, campaign activity, giving results, and program outcomes using Salesforce and other applicable platforms.
  • Identify and support opportunities to expand employer and community giving partnerships through ongoing outreach, stewardship, recognition, reporting, and alignment with organizational fundraising goals.
  • Maintain accurate grant records and documentation for proposals, awards, reporting requirements, and compliance deliverables.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track grant activity, manage funder portfolios, analyze performance, and report on fundraising progress.
  • Develop and implement processes for entering, accessing, and reporting grant data in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support to development and advancement leadership, including scheduling, meeting coordination, committee or board support, and preparation of materials.
  • Collaborate with finance, programs, communications, volunteer services, and leadership to ensure accurate gift processing, strong donor experiences, and aligned fundraising efforts.
  • Support internal coordination for campaigns, donor communications, reporting, and special projects.
  • Assist with volunteer engagement and hiring-related support for the development function as assigned.
