About The Position

The Development Officer at Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) will be responsible for the development and implementation of DCAC’s event-based fundraising efforts and in-kind donations, focused on creating meaningful and impactful engagement opportunities for new and existing donors throughout the year. The Development Officer will execute event fundraising strategies to achieve goals – including signature events, patron events, third party events, in-kind donations and other special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2-4 years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success in annual giving, donor engagement, or community fundraising
  • Experience or knowledge of donor database entry and management, specifically Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Clear and valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Strong understanding of annual giving and donor stewardship best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as event champion for Aim for Advocacy, Mahjong for a Mission and Art for Advocacy, working collaboratively with advancement colleagues to raise critical funds to meet agency fundraising goals. Aim for Advocacy net goal is $325,000 Mahjong for a Mission net goal is $50,000 Art for Advocacy net goal is $1,100,000
  • Manages a portfolio of individual, in-kind, and corporate donors who connect to the organization in different ways; works with other team members to steward them.
  • Identifies, engages, and stewards event volunteer leadership, including event chairs and event committees, for all assigned events.
  • Determines sponsorship benefits and revenue roadmap for assigned fundraising events and solicits sponsors, donations, and in-kind items and services from potential and recurring donors who are not in existing portfolios.
  • Leverages relationships with community partners to join committees and aid not only in fundraising to meet goals but also procurement of in-kind donations.
  • Develops agendas for and leads committee planning meetings; assists with action items for committee members and holds volunteer leadership accountable for assigned tasks.
  • Collaborates with marketing team members on the design and production of event related communications, collateral materials, and event programs.
  • Collaborates with project and events coordinator for assigned events, while project and events coordinator manages vendor relationships while this position manages donor and sponsor execution and asset needs.
  • Fulfills all event-related administrative functions, including but not limited to sponsorship tracking, invoicing, and attendee communication.
  • Drives a strategic and focused process with database administrator to capture event sponsor and attendee information.
  • In partnership with advancement colleagues, creates and implements stewardship plan to help identify potential event donors for major gift pipeline.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings with the Director of Events & Corporate Partnerships on a weekly basis.
  • Attends agency monthly staff meetings.
  • Attends agency special events.
  • Attends and participates and assists in the annual Crimes Against Children Conference during the month of August.
  • Other duties as assigned.
