About The Position

This position is responsible for working collaboratively with Assistant Vice President, Duke Cancer Institute (DCI) and Duke Cancer Development team to initiate and assist with activities required to develop, track and implement individual cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and actions aligned with DCI priorities. Work Arrangement – Hybrid - This is not a remote position. This position is full-time located in Durham, NC.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Duke Cancer prospect meetings. Coordinate portfolio work of Assistant Vice President and DCI Major Gift Officers, collaborating with Administrative Assistants and others across Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs (DHDAA)and interfacing with Alumni Relations, Special Events, Donor Relations, Planned Giving, Research, and Marketing and Communications.
  • Thoroughly review prospect files, research and gather information about Duke Health constituents, in order to develop briefing materials, talking points and other supporting information to be used by senior leaders and key alumni, friends and volunteers for prospect visits. Interface with constituents in planning such meetings and visits. Assist Major Gift Officers with preparation for physician meetings.
  • Provide and monitor visit follow-up and stewardship action for donors through appropriate correspondence and coordination of tailored reports and stewardship presentations. Assist Major Gifts Officers and donor relations staff in developing plans for and executing stewardship activities for high-level donors.
  • Draft correspondence for use by senior leaders for a variety of purposes to include, but not limited to, letters and/or emails acknowledging gifts and commitments.
  • Develop documents that seek financial support from Duke Health’s closest alumni and friends to include overseeing the creation and review of formal proposals, letters, etc. and typically involves coordination with colleagues across DCI, Children’s, Duke Health and University Development.
  • Provide administrative support and serve as the communications lead for the DCI Board of Advisors to include: roster management, calendaring, data entry, communications plan oversight, creation of monthly newsletter and agenda and collateral preparation. Coordinate DCI BOA meeting scheduling, preparation and execution.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and serve as point person for portfolio administration for DCI Board of Advisors.
  • Assist in the execution of cultivation and stewardship events working collaboratively with DHDAA colleagues (e.g., Special Events, Donor Relations, etc.).
  • Delegate tasks to Administrative Assistant that supports the Assistant Vice President as appropriate.
  • Enter donor activity into DADD, Sales Force and Smartsheet. Monitor DCI website for necessary updates.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
