Haverford Township Parks & Recreation Department has nature-based camps designed to introduce children to the wonders of the outdoors and to help them make connections with nature and with new friends. Campers will explore many aspects of the Haverford Reserve, a 125-acre passive recreational space including two first-order streams, a bird blind, a storm water basin, native meadow, and so much more. Staff will help youth develop life skills such as conflict resolution, decision-making, and confidence. Staff will lead campers on a new adventure every day as they explore the stream, make crafts, roam in the meadow, hike in the woods, find frogs, turtles and aquatic bugs, and play outdoors. This role requires strong leadership, enthusiasm, and is passionate about working with kids. Summer camp lead counselors are responsible for planning and leading activities and games for children ages 6-8. The lead counselor is also responsible for managing a staff of 2-3 people. The junior and senior counselors will follow the schedule provided and supervise games and activities under the direction of the lead. The program will be based at the Haverford Community Recreation and Environmental Center (CREC) located at 9000 Parkview Drive, Haverford, PA 19041.
