Requirements

  • High school diploma; plus, two years of experience in certified law enforcement or a related field.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license.
  • Certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer.
  • Able to pass a medical physical examination.
  • Able to pass a psychological examination.
  • Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8-to-12-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb stairwells.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
  • Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through use of minimal force needed in required situations.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Investigations Sergeant.
  • Responsible for NIBRS submissions, metal detector property, campus security report and maintenance of the fire and crime logs.
  • Also responsible for maintaining Title IX Drug and Weapon Referrals and compilation and dissemination of the Security Report.
  • Responsible for maintaining evidence and property room, interviewing witnesses and victims of crime on UAMS property.
  • Investigates crimes committed on campus, coordinates the case files and court documents for the courts and prosecutor offices.
  • Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations.
