Requirements

Five years of full-time law enforcement experience, which includes two years of experience in a full-time plain clothes investigative assignment with a State, County, Municipal, or Federal law enforcement agency
High School diploma or GED
Applicant must be certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) as a full authority Peace Officer and in good standing at the time of appointment
Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire

Nice To Haves

Preference will be given to those applicants with documented experience in the investigation of complex criminal cases and experience working with prosecutors
Preferred training and Certifications may be dependent upon Division needs.
Bilingual skills in English/Spanish may be required for some positions

Responsibilities

Conduct interviews of victims/witnesses in criminal cases
Locate witnesses, documents, information, and evidentiary items
Develop, utilize, and maintain informants and information resources
Conduct internal administrative investigations as assigned
Compose extensive reports, memos, and other correspondence using a computer
Serve criminal subpoenas, legal process and/or documents as required
Maintain AZ peace officer certification requirements in accordance with AZ POST Admin Code R-13-4-111 for all sworn positions
Meet with attorneys and assist in the preparation of cases for trial
Testify in court as required
Perform advanced, specialized, or original criminal investigations, which may involve undercover or covert responsibilities, search warrants, and arrests
Operate a motor vehicle
