Requirements

  • Five years of full-time law enforcement experience, which includes two years of experience in a full-time plain clothes investigative assignment with a State, County, Municipal, or Federal law enforcement agency
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Applicant must be certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) as a full authority Peace Officer and in good standing at the time of appointment
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to those applicants with documented experience in the investigation of complex criminal cases and experience working with prosecutors
  • Preferred training and Certifications may be dependent upon Division needs.
  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish may be required for some positions

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews of victims/witnesses in criminal cases
  • Locate witnesses, documents, information, and evidentiary items
  • Develop, utilize, and maintain informants and information resources
  • Conduct internal administrative investigations as assigned
  • Compose extensive reports, memos, and other correspondence using a computer
  • Serve criminal subpoenas, legal process and/or documents as required
  • Maintain AZ peace officer certification requirements in accordance with AZ POST Admin Code R-13-4-111 for all sworn positions
  • Meet with attorneys and assist in the preparation of cases for trial
  • Testify in court as required
  • Perform advanced, specialized, or original criminal investigations, which may involve undercover or covert responsibilities, search warrants, and arrests
  • Operate a motor vehicle
