About The Position

Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Investigations Sergeant. Responsible for NIBRS submissions, metal detector property, campus security report and maintenance of the fire and crime logs. Also responsible for maintaining Title IX Drug and Weapon Referrals and compilation and dissemination of the Security Report. Responsible for maintaining evidence and property room, interviewing witnesses and victims of crime on UAMS property. Investigates crimes committed on campus, coordinates the case files and court documents for the courts and prosecutor offices. Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations. This position is governed by the Law Enforcement Standards of Arkansas and UAMS Policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; plus, two years of experience in certified law enforcement or a related field.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license.
  • Certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer.
  • Able to pass a medical physical examination.
  • Able to pass a psychological examination.
  • Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8-to-12-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb stairwells.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
  • Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through use of minimal force needed in required situations.
