About The Position

The Desktop Support Analyst at UC Irvine is responsible for providing technical support for hardware, software, and networking issues across various applications. This role involves applying professional support concepts to resolve issues of moderate complexity, ensuring effective service delivery to faculty, students, and staff. The analyst will work under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor and is expected to adhere to the cultural values of the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1-3 years of experience in desktop support or systems administration.
  • Experience in conducting escalated technical support.
  • Skill in configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting end user client systems.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly.
  • General knowledge of IT and intermediate knowledge of IT-related products and services.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with networking protocols such as DHCP and TCP/IP.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise system functions and dependencies.
  • Advanced skill in creating technical documentation for complex processes.
  • Working knowledge of business processes and organization computer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve hardware, software, and networking issues for a broad range of applications.
  • Determine appropriate actions within defined procedures and practices.
  • Provide technical support to clients in administrative units throughout the campus.
  • Conduct escalated technical support including hardware and software tests.
  • Analyze test results and produce reports of conclusions and recommendations.
