Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis has approximately 13,000 employees in 32 operating facilities on 4 continents. The Novelis IT Infrastructure team is seeking a Deskside Support Engineer. The person in this role will report to the Manager Global Digital Workplace Services. The ideal candidate will provide hardware/software support services to onsite and remote clients including diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair. This position supports senior leaders and VIP productivity devices, provides consulting advice for ongoing projects, and serves as a member of a team helping to develop solutions with deskside engineers for complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in technical support
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware and networking systems, operating systems, web services, and API
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to explain solutions to complex technical problems
  • Ability to read, develop, and debug software with Java, PowerShell, Power Automate or at least one modern object-oriented language
  • Commitment to quality and customer service
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills for diverse issues in high-pressure, complex, multi-platform/system/vendor environments

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Microsoft, Mac OS, Linux
  • Experience in technical support serving employees at a global enterprise level

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Deskside Support Services by providing hardware/software support services to onsite/remote clients including break/fix.
  • Diagnose end-user system failures and implement repair solutions.
  • Diagnose printer and other peripheral device failures and implement repair solutions.
  • Provide tier 1 customer service as the escalation point to senior /VIP users and lead incidents until closure.
  • Execute Digital Workplace (DWP) Deskside Projects and Deployment Activities as required.
  • Advise on projects regarding existing DWP Deskside services.
  • Contribute to various DWP projects and deployments such as PC lifecycle replacements or any migration activities in DWP e.g., OneDrive for Business, Office 2016 rollout, etc.
  • Support all Win and MAC OS as well as iOS or Android platforms for senior /VIP users
  • Limited travel based on DWP team needs.
