The Designer position is responsible for operating with minimal supervision while completing project designs and submittals. The role requires familiarity with SFS’s quality documents, procedures, and work instructions as they relate to the design function. Essential duties include designing automatic sprinkler systems (fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems) using working knowledge of fire sprinkler codes, performing hydraulic calculations, and preparing submittal packages for Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) approval. The Designer will participate in coordination and design kick-off meetings, prepare fabrication lists and requisition materials with assistance, and perform field surveys. They will also assist field personnel with design-related installation issues, prepare final job close-out documents, and stay abreast of the latest technology, codes, and standards through seminars. Professional communication with internal and external customers is also required.
