About The Position

The Designer, Knits plays a key role in shaping the aesthetic, quality, and innovation of our knit apparel line. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional partners—including Production, Technical Design, and external factories—to translate concepts into beautifully executed, sustainably sourced products that align with the brand’s vision and emerging market trends. The Designer will contribute across the full product lifecycle: concept development, trend research, sketching, fabric and trim sourcing, sample creation, and seasonal line development. They will produce detailed construction pages, CADs, presentation boards, palettes, and spec-driven documentation that ensure clarity and accuracy for overseas partners. A strong eye for color, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in communicating design intent are essential.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a knit apparel design position is a must
  • Capable of maintaining organization while handling multiple projects & priorities
  • Strong time management & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work quickly & efficiently in a time-sensitive and evolving environment
  • Ability to take direction and desire to learn from more-experienced teammates
  • Willingness to contribute to other projects in a team environment during crunch times
  • Ability to render accurate & attractive flat sketches by hand and in Illustrator
  • Mastery of Centric PLM is a plus; willingness to learn is required
  • This a hybrid role, with 4 days in our New York, NY office

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team on design, concept, and color
  • Create compelling presentation boards, palettes, CADS, and seasonal trend concepts according to line plans & emerging trends.
  • Sketch and make clear, detailed construction pages, spec sheets, and BOMs for overseas partners to follow to make the product
  • Excellent with shape and specs
  • Excellent at communicating with factories and mills
  • Source and develop fabrics, washes, trims, and labels as needed
  • Maintain updated digital files (tracking charts and line sheets) & physical submit records
  • Provide input on lab dips and bulk lots with an excellent and tested color eye.
  • Build trusted working relationships with cross-functional partners internally among other divisions & with external suppliers
  • Communicate design intent during fittings, partnering with Tech Designer to create and update BOMs
  • Work closely with Production partners to maintain a timely development process, fit calendar, and sample approval
  • Uphold the integrity and quality execution of the brand
