About The Position
Essential Functions: Generates new product concepts based on marketing briefs or design direction. Contributes to the research of new products, market trends/needs and consumer preferences. Assist the design team in creating and refining working prototypes to ensure any newly developed design features function as intended. Responsible for the creation of effective technical documents sent overseas to create accurate prototypes. The design package should be clear, understandable, and comprehensive which can be interpreted by an overseas vendor and translated into an accurate, functional prototype. Work collaboratively with other design staff and product developers on specs, prototype samples, timelines, pricing, packaging, compliance and sourcing. Communicate directly with international vendors and our global product development team to oversee product development of assigned projects. Understand and interpret market trends, retailer trends and gain knowledge of competitor products. Travel to industry trade shows and occasional overseas development trips. Ability to evaluate product testing to improve its functionality, style, quality, and success in the marketplace. Inform management of all challenges and problems and recommend possible actions that could correct the issue.
