About The Position

You'll be able to see your design efforts come to life from design to build to install by assisting in the design of Fire Suppression, Fire Detection systems, and in Life Safety Code Analysis. You'll be a key part of our Fire Protection team and will have the ability to learn and grow in a fulfilling career with us.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, Associate's degree or higher desired
  • 1-3+ years experience in related field.
  • Fire Protection helper, journeyman, or apprentice experienced preferred
  • NICET I minimum preferred
  • Ability to self QC drawings prior to submitting to peer review
  • Able to perform calculations and lists on projects
  • Estimate design hours for projects
  • Provide basic information to develop change orders/RFIs
  • Takes responsibility for meeting deliverable deadlines
  • Able to competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications
  • Able to competently and effectively coordinate projects
  • Works under direct supervision for larger projects
  • Competent in basic computer skills include CAD and Microsoft Office products
  • Works under general supervision for smaller projects
  • Ability to learn design software platforms including: AutoSprink, HydraCAD, AutoCad, NAVIS, and REVIT.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers and engineers in fire suppression and detection system design tasks
  • Assist in creation of calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems
  • Assist in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects and other trades through the completion phase of a project
  • Perform and review CAD and REVIT drafting work, calculations, fabrication reports, cut-sheets and field prints - learn and use Autosprink and HydraCAD
  • Learn and apply applicable codes, specifications and criteria required to support the design of multiple projects
  • Examine field conditions, conceptual and construction documents to develop a constructible system
  • Complete calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems for small projects
  • Oversee entire lifecycle of small to large projects as it pertains to fire protection including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, creation of fabrication lists, answering and assist with field generated questions, RFI creation, and as-builts.
