About The Position

Aimé Leon Dore is looking for a Designer of Knits & Sweaters to join our team in New York, New York. This position will report directly to the SVP of Design and be responsible for all knits categories including sketching and tech pack creation, as well as assisting in concept research and development for upcoming seasons / collabs. The ideal candidate will be highly detail oriented, strong in knitwear construction, and passionate about blending sportswear, heritage, and New York culture into product that reflects ALD’s aesthetic codes and quality standards.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in knitwear design within contemporary or luxury apparel.
  • Strong understanding of both fully fashioned and cut & sew knit construction.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems.
  • Strong sketching, CAD, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret brand identity and storytelling into elevated knit product.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Collaborative mindset and comfort in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, rapidly changing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Must be organized and exhibit a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Sketching seasonal & collaboration styles within the fully fashioned and cut & sew knit categories.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed tech packs to ensure accurate design execution and production alignment.
  • Develop and manage line sheets as well as physical boards, ensuring all product details are accurately documented and updated for seasonal collections.
  • Assist in concept and research development for each new season and all applicable collaborations / projects.
  • Research yarns, stitches, techniques, trims, and wash/treatment processes that elevate garment design, performance, and quality.
  • Work closely with Product Development and Production teams to ensure samples meet design intent across fit, construction, yarn selection, finishing, and cost expectations.
  • Attend and actively contribute to fittings and design-related meetings, including maintenance of sketches and tech pack updates.
  • Responsible for selecting yarn and cut & sew fabrics to ensure quality and design consistency.
  • Responsible for developing stitches and artwork in collaboration with Design Leadership.
  • Collaborate with Graphics, Accessories, and Ready-to-Wear teams to ensure cohesive storytelling across categories.
  • Uphold ALD brand standards through exceptional taste, consistency, and attention to detail.
