About the position
The Design Program Manager for Augmented Reality (AR) at Meta plays a crucial role in driving product initiatives and enhancing team efficiency within a highly matrixed organization. This position focuses on improving communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, enabling them to design, build, and ship innovative hardware and software products. The role requires a blend of organizational and interpersonal skills to facilitate progress, manage risks, and support the overall product development process.
Responsibilities
- Identify and drive product initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines, and many moving parts within a highly matrixed hardware and software organization.
- Define and manage strategic initiatives that improve product design team efficiency and impact across multiple programs spanning different product development processes.
- Facilitate meetings to drive progress against goals and objectives, establishing clear next steps and owners while resolving blocks that impede progress.
- Proactively assess risk, raise flags, and resolve issues before they become problems for the larger teams.
- Support the management team with effective team communication, proactive problem solving, and information distribution.
- Define and measure the impact of programs and initiatives both qualitatively and quantitatively.
- Source and manage operational budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts.
Requirements
- Experience working with hardware product teams or programs from roadmapping through delivery.
- Experience working directly with product designers, UX researchers, content strategists, prototypers, and technical program managers.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a digital producer, project manager, or program manager with experience establishing programs, supporting design teams, and developing relationships.
- Track record of operating independently and without oversight.
- Experience leading product or business strategy in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing vendors and contractors.
- Experience using data to identify problems and communicate solutions.
