Description Overview The Mechanical Design Engineer supports the full product lifecycle for commercial equipment such as tattoo machines, molds for silicone, specialty chairs and equipment — from concept and CAD design through prototype build, test validation, production support, and field/service issue resolution. The ideal candidate has both design and manufacturing experience and experience in launching a product from design, development, to production launch and ramp up. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service to deliver robust, manufacturable designs, maintain accurate engineering documentation, and drive continuous improvement through disciplined change control and problem solving.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with 1-3 years of experience or Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of experience required
  • Experience in CAD software such as SolidWorks required
  • Experience and knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) required
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, electric equipment (such as soldering), and basic shop machinery required
  • Project experience required
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be available to travel in territory up to 30%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in DFMEA, test plan, control plan, problem solving, and relevant Quality tools desired.
  • 6-sigma certification (yellow, green) highly desired
  • Knowledge of operating 3-D printers highly desired
  • Silicone molding experience desired
  • Project Management experience desired but not required
  • Knowledge of EU, USA, and other regional certification requirements for commercial products desired but not required

Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering CAD Modeling: Develop and refine 3D models and 2D technical drawings for commercial equipment using industry-standard CAD software. Make changes to existing drawings (Engineering Change Management) and follow strict revision control protocols.
  • GD&T Application: Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure parts are manufacturable and meet strict assembly tolerances. Evaluate the stack-up of the assembly and relax tolerances as needed. Identify critical characteristics of the components.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Work closely with the production team to simplify designs, reduce part counts, and lower manufacturing costs.
  • BOM Management: Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing product lines.
  • Prototyping & Assembly: Assist in the physical assembly of prototype units, identifying "real-world" design flaws that may not be apparent in CAD.
  • Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair equipment on the shop floor, gaining a deep understanding of mechanical failure points.
  • Testing: Conduct functional and reliability tests and durability cycles on equipment to validate design specifications.
  • Repairs & Problem solving: Work with the on-site and remote service center teams to evaluate incoming customer complaints and returns, and root-cause the problems.
  • In-coming production part inspection: Evaluate the quality of the incoming parts from the vendors and provide feedback. Document Non-Conformance and resolve the issues.
