Your Role & The Opportunity As the Design Manager , you will report to the Integrated Industrial Design Market Leader. You will join the firm at our Charlotte, NC office and lead projects from design kick-off through construction to successful completion within our Integrated Industrial Design market. Your work will require you to have highly developed expertise in multi-discipline design coordination, project management, all phases of architectural design, and project management software knowledge. This management-level role provides the opportunity to pursue professional growth.

Requirements

• A professional, accredited degree in architecture or engineering with 10+ years of experience, professional registration is preferred.
• Experience with Industrial Manufacturing projects and clients highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and leading multi-discipline project teams.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to complete projects on time, with precision and attention to detail.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated project design management and staff leadership success.
• Ability to travel as required to perform project work and deliver expected results.
• Travel is expected to be in the range of 10-15%, however flexibility will be required depending on the project phase and progress.
• Passion for designing places and experiences that inspire people.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate internally, and with our design consulting partners (civil, structural, process, MEP, etc.), to lead multi-discipline design teams through each project phase ensuring coordination and project technical correctness.
• Understand and lead successful delivery of projects in accordance with contracted scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and fees.
• Lead preparation, ensure Team readiness, and execution of project kick-off meetings, design progress workshops, weekly A/E Team meetings, formal design reviews, etc. with multi-discipline projects teams, clients, equipment suppliers, and contracting partners to meet the business needs of our clients.
• Ensure all design documentation is executed in accordance with BHDP quality control and quality assurance processes at each project phase.
• Aid in preparation and provide peer review of select RFQ / RFP responses including scope narrative, execution schedule, and consulting fees.
• Attend and participate in select client and project pursuit interviews with IID Client Leaders and Market Leader.
• Regularly meet with IID Market Leader to provide project status.
• Collaborate with Director of Operations to ensure projects are appropriately staffed and staffing forecast needs are communicated in a timely manner.
• Apply interpersonal communication skills to build strong working relationships, resolve conflicts, and motivate the project team.
• Nurture relationships with existing clients while managing client expectations.
