About The Position

Overview Job Title: Design Manager Job Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite) Salary: $150,000-$170,000/yr DOE Responsibilities Supervise Design and Drafting staff. Review customer’s requirements with engineers to determine, as far as possible, the practicability and feasibility relative to performance, cost, time, etc. Coordinate with engineers to establish the basic design approach on a project. Provide technical advice and guidance to engineers, designers and drafters in matters related to the final product design and in accordance with the established design perimeters. Advise and coordinates cost reductions as related to design and fabrication. Provide liaison outside the company with customers and suppliers to accomplish design and drafting functions. Assist in proposal preparation relative to design and drafting material cost, manpower hours, schedules, etc. Responsible for establishing and maintaining files, reproductions and records necessary for the orderly operation of document control and design-drafting. Responsible for creation and maintenance of standards, specifications, and engineering changes. Review the job performance of personnel reporting to this position and make recommendations regarding retention, promotions, transfers, reclassifications, and salary increases. Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors. Establish and maintain a configuration-controlled component identification process. Responsible for effective and efficient use and implementation of CAD tools. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent and minimum 9 years prior related experience or master’s degree with a minimum of 7 years prior related experience. Management/mentoring experience required Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requirements
