About The Position

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, JOB DUTIES and COMPETENCIES: Design and detail new manufacturing equipment, automation, and gaging to fulfill production needs, including: Model and detail mechanical parts and assemblies of equipment Support design choices with engineering calculations Gather and incorporate feedback from engineering, safety, maintenance, and production staff into designs Design and detail tools and gaging to fulfill customer requirements, including: Develop production part models and drawings based on customer specifications Model and detail tools required for making the part Evaluate part fill and tool stresses with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Support continuous improvement updates to equipment and tooling Hearing, evaluating, and responding to production change requests Developing experimental tools with geometry or material changes Participating in cost reduction activities Troubleshoot technical problems through testing and application of engineering knowledge Record technical assumptions, calculations, and decisions related to assigned projects Communicate effectively with other departments and provide in-person support to manufacturing plants Check and validate the work of other engineers Remain current with latest developments in forge tooling and drawing standards Secondary (as required) Input engineering data into manufacturing database Assemble mechanical components Manage equipment installation projects through facilitating meetings, updating timelines, preparing project reports, guiding install work, and coordinating with vendors Travel frequently to satellite facilities QUALIFICATION and EDUCATION Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an associated field required, Bachelor’s degree and/or 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred Ability to apply physics and math to solve problems and optimize mechanical systems Ability to read, interpret, and detail mechanical drawings Working knowledge of Solidworks, Microsoft Word, and Excel Ability to plan, schedule, and problem solve effectively Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously Extensive knowledge of forging and machining preferred

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an associated field required
  • Ability to apply physics and math to solve problems and optimize mechanical systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and detail mechanical drawings
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and problem solve effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
