About The Position

The Design Engineer is a key member of the engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products, components, or systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to translate design concepts into innovative and manufacturable solutions.

  • Proven experience in design engineering roles, with a track record of success in designing and developing products, components, or systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD) and other engineering tools and software.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate design concepts into practical and innovative solutions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Product Design and Development:
  • Design and develop new products, components, or systems from concept to production, using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other engineering tools.
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation to support manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate design concepts and make informed design decisions.
  • Prototype Development and Testing:
  • Build prototypes and conduct prototype testing to validate design concepts, functionality, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify design improvements and optimization opportunities based on prototype testing results.
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback from prototype testing and refine designs to meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
  • Design:
  • Ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly, considering factors such as materials, manufacturing processes, and cost.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to address design issues, resolve manufacturing constraints, and streamline production processes.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to ensure that DFM and DFA principles are incorporated into the design process.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing, to ensure alignment of design efforts with overall project goals and objectives.
  • Communicate design concepts, requirements, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in design meetings, project reviews, and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas and insights to the design process.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to product design and engineering.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in product design, engineering processes, and tools.
  • Proactively seek feedback from customers, end-users, and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and innovation in product design and development.
