About The Position

Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer . Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego HQ office in San Diego, CA and reports to the Manager of Engineer. This location is primarily a small batch, prototype, and R&D facility supporting DoD, Space, and commercial clients. Position Summary: The Design Engineer will participate in designing, modeling, and generation of drawings of deliverable products, molds, tooling and fixtures in collaboration with program management, customers, manufacturing engineers and production personnel. Design work is primarily conducted in SolidWorks. This position will be supporting tooling for the Rock West Composites Enterprise team. Job Description : Perform computer-aided design of components and subsystems – preferably using SolidWorks™ design package Knowledge of composite materials, integrated design for: light weight, dimensional stability, manufacturability, precise dimensions, RF performance, thermal conductivity Familiarity with composites materials and processes (fabrics, fibers, prepregs, wet layup, infusion) Knowledge of simple structural analysis for estimating stresses, stiffness, and deflections. Work with teams of structural, manufacturing, RF, electro-optical engineers on integrated projects Present designs to customers and interact with them regarding design requirements and the trade-offs between different specifications, cost, and weight Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD programs Minimum of 5 years’ composite design and/or analysis experience Knowledge of MSOffice applications- MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project Ability to interface directly with customers Desired: Ability to obtain security clearance Perks and Benefits: 100% Employer Paid Medical and Dental Annual Bonus 401K - 5% match Employee Stocks Option Program 9/80 work schedule 8- paid Holidays PTO: Max. 4-weeks after 5 years of employment $2,500 tuition reimbursement Compensation: The compensation range for this position falls within $110,000 and $135,000. Requirements
