As a Design Engineer on the G3500 Oil and Gas Platform Team, you will lead cross-functional teams in the integration of engine systems for our industry-leading G3500 engine products. Your responsibilities will include designing critical engine components, systems, products, and processes to meet the requirements of both internal and external customers. This role focuses on enhancing the performance and competitiveness of existing products, while expanding our spark ignited product portfolio through the development of improved offerings.

  • Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar curriculum is desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Component design, engine performance and/or engine platform experience.
  • CPI and NPI project experience.
  • Diesel or Gas engine system knowledge
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, complemented by the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations.
  • Ability to collect and efficiently organize detailed information.
  • The ability to work or lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions

Responsibilities

  • Support current production G3500 Oil and Gas engines and implement new product offerings.
  • Support current G3500 Oil & Gas engine production and lead development of new and improved product offerings.
  • Lead design execution for product improvements, NTI/NPI programs, and CPI projects (L4/L5), while supporting L3-led CPI work as needed.
  • Perform L4/L5 system integration to resolve technical issues across components, systems, and processes.
  • Collaborate with L3 and validation engineers to complete FMEAs and ensure robust design validation.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for design reviews, gateways, stakeholder updates, and TRL reviews.
  • Manage Bills of Material (BOM) and create/update Teamcenter engine arrangement (ARC) models.
  • Manage procurement of new component designs.
  • Work with factory and dealer technicians to build prototype engines as needed.
  • Resolve issues identified through simulation, virtual audits, testing, assembly, and field feedback.
  • Drive resolution of PPRD, NPI, AQE, and BIQ issues.
  • Work closely with performance, controls, component engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, validation, quality, product definition, marketing, and A&I partners to achieve program milestones.
  • Communicate technical results and recommendations to stakeholders, team members, and internal customers.
  • Make cost‑value tradeoffs and support decisions with engineering rationale.
  • Support customer service and marketing inquiries on current and future products.
  • Travel to supplier or customer sites as needed, often with limited notice (average up to 10% annually).
