For nearly two decades, we’ve partnered with public and private sector clients to deliver creative, practical, and sustainable solutions across transportation, education, healthcare, municipal, federal, commercial, and recreational sectors.  We’re expanding our capabilities, our geography, and our team—and now is an exciting time to join us.   We are currently seeking an Design Engineer III – Site Civil to join our growing Site Civil team in our Jacksonville, FL.   What You’ll Do: This role is ideal for a site civil engineer with several years of hands-on design experience who is ready to take on increased technical responsibility and contribute meaningfully to project delivery. As a Design Engineer III, you will support the planning, design, and execution of site development projects across public and private sectors, working closely with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams. Design Engineers at PRIME AE are actively involved in all phases of site development, from initial planning through construction support. You will apply sound engineering judgment, advance your technical skills, and contribute to high-quality, practical design solutions in a collaborative environment..

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EI) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in civil/site design, preferably in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; MicroStation experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of stormwater modeling software such as HydroCAD or HydroFlow preferred.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal site development standards and permitting processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site development planning and design for private and public projects, including stormwater management, water and wastewater systems, roadway and parking lot layouts, grading, erosion and sediment control, and construction details/specifications.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, technical memoranda, and reports to support design decisions.
  • Develop detailed construction plans and design documents in coordination with project managers and senior engineers.
  • Assist with permitting efforts for commercial, residential, and industrial site development projects, including preparation of supporting documentation and agency coordination.
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate field data, surveys, and site constraints to inform design solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders.
  • Support projects from feasibility and concept development through final design and construction support, including site visits during design and construction phases.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering software and tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D required; MicroStation preferred) to complete design tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Contribute to proposal development, scopes of work, and project schedules as needed.
