About The Position

DESIGN ENGINEER II TRANSPORTATION – HIGHWAY & ROADWAY OHIO POSITION SUMMARY Spicer Group is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and self-motivated Design Engineer to join our Ohio Transportation Highway & Roadway Group. A qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering specific to roadway and highway design, drainage design, pavement design, and the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications and construction estimates. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • EIT certification

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience working in an engineering field
  • Experience in transportation roadway infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/ORD, and Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway and highway design, drainage design, pavement design, and a variety of related infrastructure projects
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering design plans, specifications, supporting documents, permit applications for projects, and technical engineering calculations
  • Responsible for following ODOT and municipal standards
  • Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
  • Exercising judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary or final selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
  • Prepares quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for projects
  • Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroStation/ORD to develop project designs and provide technical expertise for design modeling
  • May direct and review the work of other Technicians and Designers
  • May serve as an on-site project representative on a construction site
  • Physical presence is an essential function of this job.
