About The Position

This is a product improvement design role for boom and scissor aerial lifts and will be tasked with improving current production designs, designing new product options, and troubleshooting manufacturing and field issues. What you'll do Develop new designs from initial concept to implementation and improve existing designs. Maintain a focus on design for manufacturability and work closely with the global manufacturing teams and production facilities to assist in product and process improvements. Responsible for assessing and prioritizing incoming project requests and assigning to an appropriate team including oversight of quality and delivery. Implement technical projects in the design, development, testing and documentation of boom and scissor aerial lift products. Perform design and analysis of steel and aluminum components, welded structures, and electrical and hydraulic control systems. Verify and document compliance with applicable global and regional standards. Specify component and machine testing, create procedures and detail testing processes. Work closely with our global design engineering team and sustain a dynamic and creative engineering work atmosphere. Document designs with solid part models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks. Verify designs using traditional analytical methods in conjunction with dynamic and finite element analysis software. Create and maintain complete machine product structures including bills of materials, Models and Options, and service parts information. Research, specify and test manufactured and purchased parts working closely with the materials group and suppliers.

Requirements

  • ABET or equivalent accredited B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Level I position: no min requirement
  • Level II positions: min 3 years relevant experience
  • Senior Level positions: min 5 years relevant experience
  • Willingness to work 5 days a week in-person in Redmond, WA
  • Ability to start as early as 6:00am for global meetings, as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in machine design or related industry.
  • Strong orientation towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient with solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and PC skills including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to follow sequenced work associated with complex design tasks.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous project requests.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership working within a team.
  • Able to effectively lead project teams and utilize resources to produce optimal results.
  • Has basic understanding across multiple areas of engineering and may have advanced understanding in a specific area: Mechanical Design, Hydraulic Systems, or Electrical Systems.
  • Experience applying engineering principals to solve complex problems with little or no guidance, identifying and working through multi-disciplinary complex technical problems independently.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects; can develop project schedules and execute to plan.
  • Experience effectively prioritizing, assigning, and overseeing delegated projects within an Engineering team.
