About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work as the Design Assurance & Certification Systems Engineering Lead supporting the Core Avionics group. Core Avionics oversees the development and test of a variety of electrical components including power, command and data handling, and guidance, navigation and control systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration, and your dedicated commitment and detailed attention will further the cause of safe and repeatable spaceflight. In this role, you will be responsible for providing process guidance and oversight of avionics hardware development to meet design assurance requirements imposed on the SLD program. You will determine the appropriate design assurance level (DAL) assigned to hardware assemblies and will support the hardware design team in gathering design assurance evidence commensurate with the assigned DAL. You will identify and implement process improvements to streamline design assurance evidence capture and will hold members of the design engineering team accountable in implementing these processes across the hardware development lifecycle. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
