About The Position

The Utah County Sheriff’s Department is the law enforcement agency in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests, oversee the courts and the County Correctional Facility, and prepare legal documents for the Sheriff’s sale. We provide the training. Once hired, we’ll sponsor you through the Utah POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Academy. As a Deputy Sheriff – Corrections, you’ll support the safety and security of inmates at the Utah County Security Center. Duties include booking, housing, transportation, and inmate work programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 19 years old to attend POST Academy
  • Valid driver’s license (Utah license within 60 days of hire)
  • Must become POST-certified within 12 months
  • Pass background check, polygraph, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and drug screening
  • Maintain annual training and certifications

Nice To Haves

  • 18+ months of experience as a certified corrections officer
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, criminal justice, sociology, communications, or a related field
